Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do to ensure a successful transfer?

ANSWSER:

It's never too early to begin planning for a smooth transfer to another institution. Your decisions and commitment to a specific program and institution directly impact the success of transferring credits. The longer you wait to make a decision, the more you risk delaying degree completion. We recommend the following:

By the time you have earned 6 credits - declare your intent to transfer.
By the time you have earned 24 credits - declare your major and institution.

In addition to academic advising, we recommend using the following transfer resources throughout your community college experience.

The Arizona Course Applicability System (CAS) provides information on courses, course equivalencies and program requirements. If you choose to become a "CAS Member," CAS provides information on how specific coursework will transfer and apply towards a degree at another CAS university.

The online Course Equivalency Guide (CEG) shows how coursework is accepted at Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona.

The online University Transfer Guides provide information for Arizona community college students about the courses they can take at the community college that will transfer to satisfy degree requirements for a particular institution 's baccalaureate degree.

Transfer Ombudspersons are community college and public university representatives who assist with any transfer difficulties and are generally located at your college's advisement/transfer center.

The Maricopa Catalog lists general education and program requirements. Contact a Maricopa Community College to obtain a catalog, or to access one online.
