TRANSFER "101"

Glossary

Our department has compiled several essential terms and their definitions into a Glossary for your understanding and reference. By giving yourself a thorough orientation to these concepts and terms, you will increase your working knowledge of the transfer process. As you familiarize yourself with their meanings, be sure to access the hyperlinks for examples and applications of each.

Choosing Your Major:

Beginning (or returning) to college is one of the most promising decisions you can make when continuing your education. And before deciding "Where" to study (as in which institution), you obviously need to have a firm understanding of "What" you are interested in studying most. - Unfortunately, there is no one, simple way to figure this out. You must rely on your own introspection as well as accurate information you receive from others. Several of these information pieces are available at your community college, high school campus, local libraries, and on the Internet. Be sure to check with those persons working in Career Services departments, as well as Guidance Counselors, for important career resources to assist you in selecting your major.

Transfer Checklist:

This document provides a general timeline for use when trying to understand the transfer process. It is offered to you as an information gathering resource. When completing these various processes, be sure to appropriately document all of the steps taken - including dates and deadlines, persons contacted - while making copies of information you submit.
