PTPP Admission |
Students are eligible for consideration for admission to the PTPP if they meet the following criteria: |
-Admission to ASU as a classified student. |
-A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. |
-Completion of at least 56 semester hours by the time of PTPP admission. |
The following text replaces the highlighted text effective October 11, 1999 by request of the Office of Academic Articulation at Arizona State University and Dr. Zoila Gamero de Tovar. |
-Submission of scores on the American College Test (ACT) or the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST). An ACT score of 21 or higher is required, or PPST scores of 172 in math, 173 in reading, and 174 in writing are required. Students who do not meet regular admission standards can still be considered for provisional admission (if they fall between 18 and 20 on the ACT or 170 and 173 on the PPST). Students who fall under this classification need to fulfill specific academic requirements with the purpose of meeting the regular admission standards in the PTPP; in order to demonstrate requisite qualifications for successful teaching and to meet the State's certification requirements. |
-Submission of scores from either the American College Test (ACT) or Pre-Professional Skills Test (a minimum score is not required. An applicant may be referred for additional skill development while matriculating through the program of study). (No longer valid per ASU, 10/11/99) |
-Completion of ENG101 and 102 and General studies [L1] or [S1] and [N1] requirements with a grade of "C" or better (courses in progress do not satisfy this requirement). |
-A special application with additional supporting materials (emphasis is placed on prior volunteer or paid experience working with the age or group of the certification area sought). |
Admission is competitive and not guaranteed to all who satisfy the minimum admission criteria. Emphasis is placed on prior volunteer or paid experience working with the age or group of the certification sought. |
