The MCCCD Department/Division Codes support the college schedule building processes and allow for development of distinct reports sourced from the course bank. Generally the colleges define the department/division numeric codes by whatever process they deem appropriate. Colleges do have to keep in mind a couple of rules that must be followed by them in developing the numeric codes:
1) Each Department/Division must have a distinct code.
2) A range of numeric values cannot be assigned to a single Department/Division.
The college Curriculum Technician is familiar with the processes that support changes to Department/Divisions and their associated codes. At college level the Curriculum Technicians are the first point of contact for any questions regarding the business process and information on Department/Divisions for the college. The District Curriculum Office maintains the Department/Division Codes master list for the MCCCD and the codes are a critical element in the entry of courses within the MCCCD course bank.
