How long does it take for a course or a program to be developed and available for offering?
Answer: The duration of the development process is dependent on the college initiator and their development needs and approaches. The process for review and action by the District Curriculum Committee and the MCCCD Governing Board takes approximately 35 days from the date the proposal is submitted to the Center for Curriculum and Transfer Articulation.
Who do I contact to discuss the development of a new course or program?
Answer: The pivotal figure at college level for the development of courses and programs is the Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Vice President of Academic Affairs should be contacted to begin discussion of new courses and/or programs.
How long does it take before an approved course is available for the college to schedule?
Answer: The Center for Curriculum and Transfer Articulation initiates a process for a copy of the master course bank to be copied and released to the colleges. This generally done a day or two after the Governing Board meets and takes action on the proposals for the month. Information Technologies Services then initiates their processes for updating the college copy of the course bank. Generally this can be accomplished in a week’s time barring any problems or technical issues.

Answer: This information is available on the Resources page of the Center for Curriculum and Transfer Articulation's Web Site: Active Course and Program counts. This page is updated every month that curriculum is processed.
How many courses are cross-referenced?
Answer:
As of September, 2007 there were approximately 1,165 total active credit cross-referenced courses (includes the course and its cross-referenced course(s)).78 Courses are cross-referenced with more than one course.

How many different programs do the MCCCD Colleges offer?

How many different areas are available for offering in degrees or certificates?
Answer: As of September, 2007 there were approximately 510 distinct areas of emphasis in the occupational programs available for offering as either degree or certificate based programs.
