Who supports the MCCCD faculty in the development of general studies proposals for university review and action?

Dr. Jeffry Ricker serves as the 2007-2008 General Studies Faculty Representative.

 

Roles and Responsibilities of the General Studies Faculty Representative

The Maricopa Community Colleges General Studies Faculty Representative serves to represent Maricopa interests at university and community college level. The Representative serves on the:

Arizona State University at the Tempe Campus - General Studies Council (TCGSC)

Arizona State University at the West campus - Senate Curriculum and Program/General Studies Committee (SCP/GSC)

General Education Articulation Task Force (GEATF), which is one of two Arizona statewide non-discipline specific ATFs. Made up of representatives from every public community college district and every public university in the state, the GEATF is charged with overseeing general education in higher education in Arizona, specifically the Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC).

The Representative may also serve on other committees, councils, or groups addressing general education and as requested by the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs.

Other responsibilities of the General Studies Faculty Representative include the support needed by Maricopa faculty in developing general studies proposals for university review and action and communicating final outcomes to appropriate Maricopa faculty and other constituents as described in the Curriculum Procedures Handbook, General Education Procedures Guide.
