Navigation Tips for the District Curriculum Office (DCO) Web Site

IMPORTANT NOTE: The information on this website is best viewed by using Internet Explorer 6.0 or Netscape 7.1 or higher.

The DCO web site contains a high volume of information at different levels. Thus we have attempted to provide ease in navigation between pages, documents and search engines. The following provides information on how to navigate the web site, the different pages and information within the pages.

Moving from Section to Section Using Page Tabs and Links in the Navigation Bar Associated with the Tab
The page tabs of Home, Process, the three Curriculum Procedures Handbook tabs, Process Calendar and News & Resources each have links on the navigation bar associated with the page tab. For example clicking on the Home tab will display Navigation Tips, Site Map, Schedule for Updates, and another way to access the search engines. These tabs and links are the best way to move from section to section. In addition other links are located within specific text on the pages which allow the user to return to previous pages and to move between related sections.

Moving from the Web Site to Word Documents and back to the Web Site
Several links from the New DCO web site connect with official MCCCD information developed as Word documents. For example, all the occupational programs processed since June 2004, several DCO reports and Department Division lists are provided as Word documents. This approach facilitates the transfer of information back to the colleges. The best way to return to the DCO web pages from a Word document is to use the back button/arrow on your browser. There are also links back to the DCO web site along the top of the Word documents that can be used to return to the web. All academic and occupational programs will be updated to this new format as time allows.

Other Tips for Using the New DCO Web Site

Search Engines: Quick Searches

Courses: When using the quick search engine for courses, and after a search has been conducted, users can navigate on the search results page by using the browser's back button/arrow, page tabs and the links on the navigation bar displayed. After clicking on the course link on the search results page the user can navigate back to the web site by using the back button/arrow for courses.

Search Engines: Advanced Searches

Courses: The advanced searches provide a number of ways to navigate through the information on courses and produce search results. In addition, the search page provides a link to the Active Subject (prefix) report that lists all active course subjects for MCCCD. Navigating from the actual course information displayed to the previous page is by way of the back button/arrow.

Programs: The navigation for the advanced search engine for programs is the same as defined for the quick searches. The user can navigate through the page tabs or links on the navigation bar.

Curriculum Procedures Handbook (CPHB):
The Handbook has sections that are quite lengthy in terms of information related to curriculum development, steps for proposal development and review and action processes. We have included a drop-down box for quickly navigating to a specific area of the Handbook section. The values identified in the drop down box are the headers for the different main paragraphs or areas of the particular section. For example, the New Course section drop down box has, Course Prefix/Subject, Course Number, Course Title, etc. Users should review the values in the drop down boxes to understand the contents of each section.

Quick Read Sections on Web pages
The Quick Read sections are used to provide key information related to the page and items on the navigation bar with quick access to important links.

Brand on Curriculum Procedures Handbook sections
Information that is related to the Handbook is "branded" with a header that identifies it as such. Regardless of the way a user may access different sections of the Handbook, the user will know that the content is a part of the current Curriculum Procedures Handbook. For example, the General Education Guide and the Associate in Transfer Partnership Guide can be accessed through the Faculty & Advisor page. When the user clicks on the link, the "brand" immediately identifies the information as part of the Handbook.

M Logo and the District Curriculum Office Logo
TheMaricopa M logo serves to connect the user to the Maricopa District Support Services Center page. The District Curriculum Office logo connects the user to the District Curriculum Office's home page.
