UNIVERSITY AND MARICOPA INITIATIVES

As part of the 2006 Strategic Conversation series, the Maricopa community actively participated in a working session regarding University Partnerships and Maricopa Initiatives on April 11. One of the segments of the evening was entited, Separating Fact from Fiction, where university representatives provided information that dispelled commonly held beliefs such as all Maricopa students transfer to Arizona State University, or that Maricopa students do not get admitted into professional programs. STATEWIDE UPDATE

Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) Proposed Changes

The Computer Information Systems (CIS) and Business Articulation Task Forces (ATFs) submitted a proposal to move the introductory computer course from a common course into the AGEC-B. The rationale for moving the course into the AGEC-B includes: 1) It will give the course statewide general education status, 2) It is an area of knowledge expected at the lower division level and pre-requisite to upper-division course content, and 3) The movement to the AGEC-B formalizes the advice that is consistently offered by business advisors that students take the computer course as a part of their General Studies. ASU Math Changes

In an effort to keep faculty apprised of ASU changes, UCR is sharing the following table that lists the math requirements for various ASU majors. The document will be updated yearly (based on catalog year) and shared with the statewide ATFs. The transfer guides should continue to be the source for recent and updated math requirements for ASU programs. Table
