Capella University Webinars

What is Instructional Design and Why Do I Need it? - Hear from two Capella faculty members about how an instructional designer can help you smoothly move face-to-face courses to an online format. This webinar will help you:

  1. Discover what instructional design is and how it can help you create engaging online learning experiences.
  2. Be conversant about how instructional design differs from lesson planning, curriculum design, and course development.

In Search of Significance…Through the Struggle to the PhD - Join Dr. Carolyn Rogers and Dr. Melissa McIntyre, faculty members from Capella’s School of Education, to learn more about finding a balance in your life that supports and encourages your goal of earning a PhD. This webinar will help you:

  1. Recognize and avoid the pitfalls in life that distract you from your journey.
  2. Identify strengths and weakness of self to strike a balance in life.
  3. Understand the focus and commitment necessary to produce quality work in the quest to earn a doctorate.

Ten $5,000 scholarships offered

Capella University is pleased to announce ten $5,000 scholarships for qualified learners enrolled in one of the three information assurance and security specializations. Capella is looking for applicants who are interested in pursuing a career in information assurance and security and want to advance the field through a better understanding and application of information assurance and security theories and practice. You can apply whether you’re a current Capella student or ready to enroll. To qualify for the award, recipients must enroll or be enrolled in one of the following specializations in April, May, or June 2008.

  • PhD in Information Technology, Information Security specialization
  • MS in Information Technology, Information Security specialization
  • BS in Information Technology, Information Assurance and Security specialization

The scholarships are offered in addition to the 10% tuition discount and paid transcript benefits already provided to Maricopa Community Colleges’ Faculty, Staff or Students in support of your professional and academic goals. Scholarship applications must be submitted to Capella University by April 21, 2008. All eligible applicants must complete and submit the online scholarship application, which includes five essay questions. Eligibility requirements include:

  • All applicants must be currently working in or transitioning to the field of information assurance and security.
  • Applicants, for a variety of reasons, such as financial, location, lifestyle, etc.,  must not otherwise be able to pursue a degree in information assurance and security without this scholarship.

Applications will be reviewed by the Capella Scholarship Committee, and the recipients will be notified by May 16, 2008. Visit www.capella.edu/maricopa for details and the scholarship application.
