Update on Collaborative Efforts with Two of Arizona Public Universities

The Maricopa Community Colleges are working closely with Arizona State University (ASU) and Northern Arizona University (NAU) on special efforts to increase the number of students who successfully complete a Maricopa Associate degree and transfer to these institutions. These partnerships are based on a strong commitment to helping students achieve their educational goals. Through well-articulated transfer education and alignment of support services with Arizona’s public universities, Maricopa students will benefit from these collaborative efforts. In addition to the continued commitment to the statewide policies that support the Arizona Transfer Model, Maricopa has worked with these public universities on transfer arrangements that integrate academic programs and services necessary to support transfer students. Articulation Task Force (ATF) Orientation – If you are an ATF Chair or new member on a statewide ATF, UCR invites you to attend an orientation on Wednesday, September 13 from 1:30-3:30, Rio Conference Center. The purpose of the orientation is to provide information regarding your ATF roles and responsibilities and to introduce ATF resources and technology that will support you in the upcoming year. When Ty Smith came to Scottsdale Community College in 2003, traveling to Switzerland to continue his college studies was the furthest thing from his mind. Yet this July, Smith will become the first SCC student to fly to the European nation to attend the prestigious Les Roches School of Hotel Management, thanks to a unique transfer partnership SCC has established with the internationally acclaimed institution.

Smith’s professional goals are as big as his next educational adventure promises to be. “I’d like to obtain a good management position in the sales and marketing side of operations and parlay that into a general manager, director, or owner position one day,” explains Smith. (Continue....)
