Alliance Creates An Easy Transition For Students Transferring From The Maricopa Community Colleges To Arizona State University

ASU Transfer Program

Transferring to Arizona State University from colleges in the Maricopa County Community College District has become easier for students thanks to a unique Alliance partnership between the two educational institutions.

The ASU-Maricopa Alliance offers students the chance to transfer to ASU in a seamless manner, work with ASU advisors, apply for scholarships and participate in events designed to inform students about their degree programs. Approximately 1,700 students have joined the Alliance since the inception of the program in 2005 and 2006. This number currently includes over 200 participants that have successfully transferred to ASU from a Maricopa Community College through the Alliance partnership. (Continued)

Indiana University Changes Transfer Credit Policy

The Center for Curriculum and Transfer Articulation received official notification that Indiana University’s transfer credit policy changed this year. On March 4, 2008, the Indiana University Faculty Council approved a resolution to limit the total number of community college credits that can be applied to the requirements for a bachelor's degree from 90 to 64. According to the letter, IU will not accept additional admits to the 90/30 program after October 2, 2009 in accordance with the original letter of agreement. Those students admitted may pursue the completion of the Bachelor's of General Studies (BGS) from the program under the original 90/30 guidelines. Students admitted by October 2, 2009 are not limited to a specific number of semesters in order to finish the BGS under the 90/30 agreement, although IU would encourage them to complete within three to five years. Maricopa students who wish to apply for admission to the IU BGS degree program before October 2, 2009 should contact Dean Daniel Callison directly by letter.  His information follows:
