Maricopa Community Colleges and Northern Arizona University (NAU) team up to offer concurrent path for nursing degrees

Kathleen Vasquez, a nursing student at Glendale CC, is earning her associate’s degree and working on her bachelor’s degree in a new concurrent enrollment program.

Maricopa Community Colleges and NAU have the remedy for nursing students who want to earn their bachelor’s degree in less time and for less money.

Starting this summer, students in Maricopa County can begin pursuing their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at NAU while they are earning their Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Nursing degree at a local community college.

The new nursing concurrent enrollment program is offered through a partnership between the Maricopa Community Colleges and NAU. It provides an affordable course of study allowing students to complete their BSN degree while pursuing the AAS in nursing. In this model, students graduate with a BSN one semester after graduating with their AAS degree from the community college.

Kathleen Vasquez, who is working toward earning her nursing degree at Glendale Community College, recently enrolled in the concurrent program. (Continued...)
