5th Annual Transfer Week
March 24-28, 2008

The Maricopa District Governing Board has adopted goals and strategic directions that emphasize the importance of university transfer. Specifically, the Board goal on transfer states: Students who transfer to a baccalaureate degree granting institution will be prepared to successfully attain their academic goals. The Maricopa Community Colleges support Transfer Education through multiple partnerships that provide opportunities for students to earn credits and apply them towards the completion of a baccalaureate degree. Maricopa faculty and staff can learn more about the various transfer opportunities during the 5th Annual Transfer Awareness Week.

Events throughout the week will help current students learn more about Maricopa's general education core, Associate degrees, and Certificates. Students can also learn about opportunities for transferring to four-year universities, including how to apply to universities, how to transfer Associate degrees, and which programs are offered at universities. The goals for Transfer Week include:

  1. Inform students about transfer opportunities and how to use Maricopa courses and degrees toward completing a baccalaureate degree.
  2. Inform faculty, advisors, and other student services professionals about the various partnerships and changes in admission requirements and university degrees.
  3. Strengthen transfer partnerships through dialogue with stakeholders.
  4. Provide an opportunity to meet with over 30 Maricopa transfer partners, including Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, University of Arizona, Columbia University, New Mexcio State University, Pennsylvania State University, Western New Mexico University, Ottawa University, DeVry University, and many more institutions.

Building bridges for student success is a collective effort, and we invite you to join us in raising the importance and awareness of the transfer mission.
