125 Pathways now available through Maricopa-ASU Alliance
The Maricopa Community Colleges and Arizona State University (ASU) are proud to announce that more new Maricopa -ASU Program Pathways (MAPPs) are now available through the Alliance partnership! Beginning in March 2011, Maricopa Community College students will have 125 ASU pathway options available from which to choose, including new areas like sustainability, secondary education, earth & space exploration, and art. MAPPs were initially made available in October 2009 providing students with the most efficient and cost-effective pathway to an ASU bachelor’s degree while studying at their community college. Students earn the appropriate AGEC and associate degree, complete the lower-division preparation for their major while at their community college, and are then guaranteed admission to their degree program at ASU.

Estrella Mountain Community College Partners with Northern Arizona University to Streamline Bachelor’s Degrees for Culinary Students
Avondale, Arizona – March 2, 2011 – Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) and Northern Arizona University (NAU) are happy to announce an agreement that will allow students in the EMCC Culinary Studies Program a convenient way to transfer into NAU’s School of Hotel and Restaurant Management to earn a bachelor’s degree from the university. The transfer agreement will allow students who earn an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in culinary arts through EMCC to transfer to NAU to complete the upper-division coursework to earn their bachelor’s degrees in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
Students who complete their first two years at EMCC can transfer up to 75 credits from the Culinary Studies Degree to the Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) program at NAU. After entering the NAU HRM program, transfer students from EMCC may pursue upper-division courses in person at the NAU campus in Flagstaff, at NAU on the Scottsdale Community College campus, or through NAU Online. UMUC Announces Local Representatives and Scholarships
University of Maryland University College (UMUC) representatives will be onsite at all of the Maricopa Community College campuses at least twice per month to provide information about the dozens of online degree programs offered at UMUC. UMUC representatives will also conduct tentative transcript evaluations, provide general assistance with the transfer process, and award transfer scholarships on the spot! UMUC accepts up to 70 credits from two-year colleges, up to 90 credits from four-year institutions, and transfer credit for college-level learning gained from work or military experience, training, graduate, and international study.
Scholarships
Did you know UMUC offers scholarships for Maricopa community college graduates? Students can apply on the spot! Requirements include a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average and an earned associate degree from one of the Maricopa community colleges. Qualified Alliance community college transfer students are eligible to be awarded $3,330 per year (full time) and $1,650 per year (part-time). Visit www.umuc.edu today to get started!
Multimedia Design and Development offered at Devry University
The DeVry University’s College of Media Arts and Technology has established a Bachelor’s degree program in Multimedia Design and Development (MDD). This program is for students interested in pursuing a career in the growing fields of web and multimedia design.
The MDD program empowers students with the knowledge of fundamental design principles, key software applications and web content management and animation, all of which are the necessary foundation components that enable students to obtain entry level positions in the field of web graphic design. 2011Spring Transfer Fairs and Events
The Maricopa Community Colleges will be hosting University Transfer Fairs for 2011. The fairs will help Maricopa students learn about opportunities for transferring to four-year universities, including how to apply to universities, how to transfer Associate degrees, and which programs are offered at universities. Additionally, NAU held Connection Days, Feb. 22-24, on Maricopa Community College campuses to promote accessible and affordable degree paths offered in partnership by the colleges and university.

Strayer University Offers Online Courses for the ‘Next Generation’
Online students learn more effectively when they are fully involved and participate in class discussions. To help students continue to succeed, Strayer University has developed highly interactive next-generation online courses.
These classes incorporate hands-on activities such as eBooks, glossaries and games to engage adult students in the learning process. “We want to ensure that our students fully understand the course material before moving on, and that online courses can be accessed quickly and easily,” says Sheena Bhasin, vice president of product innovation. “These new features enable students to stay engaged and reinforce the course content.” (Continued...)
Grand Canyon University Transfer Scholarship Deadline
Students wishing to apply for Grand Canyon University's (GCU) New Student Grant must submit official transcripts and an application to the university by March 31, 2011. Award amounts for the 2011-2012 New Student Grant are as follows:
$1000 per year for commuter students
$2000 per year for on-campus residents
GCU also offers academic scholarships to transfer students that can be combined with the New Student Grant up to certain aggregate limits. Students are able to apply for these scholarships after the March 31st New Student Grant deadline. Please see a list of our available scholarships on GCU's profile page. Argosy University, Phoenix Announces Appointment Of Campus President
(PHOENIX, Az. – February 17, 2011) Argosy University has announced the appointment of Deborah Markos to the position of President of the Phoenix campus.
