The Bachelor of Applied Science degree is our degree of choice popular with adult learners. This is a 124-semester hour degree designed to afford both academic and professional depth for individuals who possess recognized competence in an occupational or technical field. The degree integrates university degree requirements with occupational or technical preparation. Majors are available in Business Administration, Management, Career and Technology Education, Human Services, Justice Administration, and Applied Science. Offering the most flexibility, the Applied Science major enables students to transfer in 18-semester hours of specialized professional or technical education. The Practicum, or Internship component of this degree, awards up to 12 semester hours at no additional cost to the student.
Wayland offers a wide complement of degrees to meet the needs of adult learners. In addition to the Bachelor of Applied Science, bachelor’s degrees offered are the Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and the Bachelor of Christian Ministry. Masters degrees offered include Master of Arts in Management, Master of Business Administration, Master of Christian Ministry, Master of Arts in Counseling, Master of Public Administration and the Master of Education. A Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification has recently been added in response to student needs.
Wayland Baptist University celebrated its centennial year in 2008. The Phoenix Campus was established in 1991 at Luke Air Force Base and opened offices in downtown Phoenix in 2002. Courses are offered at various Phoenix locations and are available in hybrid, online or traditional classroom format.
