UofA Provides Advising to Transfer Students

With classes back in session, many students are one semester closer to obtaining their Associate’s Degrees, which also puts them one-step closer to transferring to a University. It is never too early for students to begin exploring their University options. For transfer students, this process sometimes requires help from advisors at both institutions; and the UA has the Advising Resource Center to connect students to the information they need.

As a central resource, the Advising Resource Center provides referral services to students seeking access to academic advising. Students are able to search by college or by major through the academic advisor directory. The major pages include procedures for scheduling an advising appointment, procedures for declaring a major and/or minor, and a program guide which is a sample schedule of courses.

With this semester already in full swing, those interested in transferring to the UA should start thinking about their options now to be prepared. The website is easy to navigate so visit it today to take the steps now to get connected with your advisor at the UA!

If your students have work and family obligations that make it difficult to take traditional college courses, consider encouraging them to take online courses via ASU Online. Of the Maricopa-ASU pathways that are currently available, 11 degree programs can be completed entirely online upon transferring to ASU. ASU Online offers fully accredited Bachelor's degrees, Master's degrees and certificates taught by the same award-winning faculty who teach ASU’s traditional face-to-face on-ground classes. Students never have to worry about commuting to campus as the classes are entirely online.

No matter the subject, students will use the latest learning technologies and state-of-the-art software to enhance their studies and take a hands-on approach to excelling in their fields. Students will also receive academic advising and support, and have access to our eAdvisor program to ensure they stay on track. To learn more, visit ASU Online.

“School Days, School Days, Dear Old Golden Rule Days!” is a song that was recorded in 1949 about a man reflecting on his years in elementary school. Even today, this song resonates with many as August rolls around, and everyone falls back into their normal school routine. Grand Canyon University (GCU), also founded in 1949, has a 62-year history, yet this year feels different than all others. Excitement is in the air for students, faculty and staff alike due to the completion of a $200 million campus expansion project.  The expansion project includes a 5,000 seat arena, which will be home to the men’s and women’s basketball teams, a student recreation center, additional dining facility, several new dorms, and even a bowling alley! The tool lists the university and college partners of the Maricopa Community Colleges that offer advanced degrees (e.g., graduate, doctoral) as well as Maricopa employee tuition scholarships.
