The Maricopa Community Colleges and Arizona State University are working together to support transfer student success through a collaborative partnership called the Alliance. The Alliance is designed to promote positive and seamless experiences for Maricopa students who transfer to ASU. Access the Alliance fact sheet. The following are updates regarding Alliance activities and opportunities.
Advising Events
Fall ASU Advising Days have been scheduled for students interested in transferring to ASU. Students will have an opportunity to meet with ASU advisors, gain valuable academic and scholarship information, and learn about admission and program deadlines. Access schedule.
Scholarships
The ASU/Maricopa Alliance was able to offer merit scholarships to more than 100 Maricopa Community College students who will be transferring to Arizona State University for the 2009-10 academic year. As a part of the expanded Alliance program between ASU and the Maricopa Community Colleges, students have been chosen based upon their academic excellence and completion of an associate degree through a Maricopa Community College. Scholarship awards ranged from $1000-$2000 and are renewable for one additional year pending successful completion of ASU’s scholarship renewal criteria.
Watch for more updates on the Alliance.
Change to "Elective or Better" Policy
The Academic Program Articulation Steering Committee (APASC) approved revisions to the Elective or Better policy at their May 1, 2009 meeting. The new policy will be effective beginning the Fall of 2010. In summary, the changes allow more flexibility for the utilization of community college courses in the transfer associate degrees. Courses used to satisfy Arizona General Education Curriculum requirements still need to be transferable to the three state universities, however, courses used to satisfy remaining Associate Degree requirements need to be elective or better for those universities that have the “shared major.” To access the new policy language.

These guides present the lower-division requirements of bachelor’s degree programs at Maricopa's university partner institutions, and support AGEC and associate degree completion. CCTA will send updates as transfer guides are added and updated. The following transfer guides are currently available on the Transfer Partner Search Site.
