Health Unit Coordinator
Health Unit Coordinators work under the supervision of the nursing departments in a health care facility or a physician in an office. They transcribe doctors’ orders, perform receptionists’ duties, schedule diagnostic tests and treatments, and manage patient charts and unit supplies.

Work Environment:
Employment is found in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and physicians’ offices.

Job Outlook:
Occupations in the field of health services will continue to rise in the future. The job market for Health Unit Coordinators is expected to increase by 3.5% each year in Arizona, creating over 160 new jobs annually.

Licensure/Certification:
Upon successful completion of the program students will be eligible to take the national certification exam administered by the National Association of Health Unit Clerks/Coordinators (NAHUC).

Salary:
Health Unit Coordinators earn between $10.50 to $14.50 an hour. Their average annual salary ranges from $22,100 to $30,100.
