For anyone considering entering one of the healthcare programs offered at the Maricopa Community Colleges, there are some common healthcare courses that students are required to take, either as a prerequisite or corequisite. The Healthcare Core Courses (HCC) provide a basic and universal foundation of healthcare concepts for all healthcare students. Allied health and nursing students take these courses together, thus building early in their career the opportunity to work in healthcare teams.

The following pages contain information about the HCC courses including how to receive credit through examination or evaluation for prior healthcare education, specific exemptions for HCC courses, an equivalency guide for the HCC courses, and medical terminology course requirements.
