Estrella Mountain offers a variety of programs for students interested in education and teaching that will transfer to a four year university.
Our newest program is the Associate in Arts Degree for Elementary Education (AAEE). This degree will transfer to any of Arizona’s state universities.
The Associate Transfer Partnership Degree (ATP) for elementary education is another way to earn an Associate in Arts Degree. There are two ATP pathways; one transfers to ASU West, and the other transfers to ASU Tempe.
A third option is the Associate in Arts (AA) Degree. The AA is appropriate for students pursuing a degree in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Early Childhood or Special Education. This degree will transfer to any state university.
All of these degree programs are designed to prepare students for transfer to a university. At the university, students will enter the Professional Teacher Preparation Program (PTPP) to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Special Education.
We also have an Associate in Applied Science Degree (AAS) in teacher assisting. This degree is designed to transfer toward a Bachelor's in Applied Science Degree (BAS). The AAS Degree program is suitable for students who want to become instructional aids or for working paraprofessional who need to meet current federal regulations.
inspire.teach is a 2+2+2 program. The first “2” represents juniors and seniors at the high school level, the middle “2” represents two years at Estrella Mountain Community College, and the last “2” represents the final two years at ASU West. The program’s structure insures a smooth transition from high school to the community college and from the community college to the university thereby increasing the likelihood for success.
inspire.teach encourages and prepares students to choose and excel in the teaching profession. There is a strong commitment to inspire students from underrepresented groups to explore teaching careers and to increase the number of diverse professionals within Arizona’s education work force.
Estrella Mountain Community College offers all of the courses in the curriculum that provides the academic requirements for meeting the assessment guidelines for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. |
