Statement of Philosophy

The AFA embraces and supports the vision and mission of the Maricopa community Colleges. We are equal partners with the professional staff, the administration, the maintenance and operational staff, the governing board, and the resident faculty in making this vision a reality.

Vision Statement

The Adjunct Faculty Association is a professional organization of and for the part-time teaching staff and supportive faculty members of Maricopa Community Colleges. We use integrative, innovative decision-making processes that support growth in quality education.

Mission Statement

The AFA mirrors the diversity of our customers, the students. Because of this diversity the mission of our organization must include several facets:

  • As the advocate for all adjunct faculty we recommend and support ideas and concepts directly related to the role of adjuncts that will improve the District's education program.
  • We serve a vital link between the college, the community and industry.
  • We act as primary communication link between the part-time classroom teacher, the students, the resident faculty, the administration, and the governing board. We utilize our diversity to seek innovative solutions to problems created by our evolving social, cultural, and economic environment.
