Overview:

The purpose of this workshop is to provide interested employees with a sense of awareness and understanding of the legislative process and the development of public policy. Information to assist and empower those who wish to practice effective advocacy will be presented.

Objectives:

  • Define "public policy," and the role it serves in the interests of the community.
  • Learn how government agencies make decisions.
  • Hear suggestions for interacting with legislators and legislative staff.
  • Learn the process of legislative bill development, and identify systems for tracking State and Federal bills.
  • Learn strategies to develop effective advocacy skills.
