The Honors Alliance

For Students:

ASU Honors Program:

    Barrett: The Honors
        College

Maricopa Community Colleges Honors Programs:

The four major goals of the Honors Alliance are: successful and seamless transition of students from the Maricopa Community Colleges to Arizona State University, experiential learning throughout program, major and career exploration, and transfer success.

In addition to providing challenging academic activities, the Honors Alliance Program offers a variety of activities that extend learning beyond the classroom including social and cultural activities and community service projects. Honors Alliance Students may be encouraged to participate in community and campus service activities, as well as in international programs and off-campus internships.

Proposed Honors Alliance events, services, and activities will likely include:

  • Shadow days (hosted by Junior or Senior BHC students) where Maricopa students can shadow an upper class student and attend an Honors lecture/class and meet some of the faculty and/or advising staff;
  • Mentor program allowing upper class students at ASU to provide mentorship to 1st and 2nd year students at Maricopa;
  • Other campus experiences that allow students to become familiar with ASU, BHC, student services and activities at ASU, social/academic support systems, and so on;
  • Tour of ASU campuses, including an introduction to support services, faculty, staff, and other resources.

All of these activities and events will be closely connected by the participation, support, and collaboration of the students, faculty, and staff that have experienced the power of the Honors Alliance firsthand themselves - resulting in a "giving back" to this academic community.

To be eligible for the Honors Alliance, a student must be a Presidential Scholarship recipient or Honor's Program participant at one of the Maricopa Community Colleges.
