The Fourteen Annual Arizona Japanese Speech Contest

The Arizona Association of Teachers of Japanese held another successful Japanese Speech Contest on Sunday, April 13, 2003 at Northern Arizona University.  Ms. Emi Ahn, Foreign Language Faculty at MCC and APIA co-secretary, has been instrumental in the success of this event.  She was the committee co-chair and also represented Mesa Community College.

Emi has helped organizing and getting sponsors for this event for the past several years.  This year, Emi together with Ms. Emi Kawasaki, International Student Advisor at MCC and APIA's membership committee member, participated in this event.  Ms. Emi Kawasaki served as one of the judges for this year.

Three students from MCC received awards at this contest:

Ciradessa Peterson, online first semester elementary Japanese student, 2nd Place.
Rindsay Ruck and Juliana Davies, second semester Japanese students, won  3rd place, and Most Humorous award.

APIA has been a proud sponsor of this event for the past several years.
