Lo-An is a community college graduate and a native of Vietnam. She received an A.A.S degree in Business and Office Administration in 1980, a B.A. in Management with an emphasis in Organizational Behavior in 1983. Lo-An received her M.S. degree in Computer Applications and Information Systems in 1988.
Lo-An considers herself a life-long learner. Her post graduate study includes a professional certificate in Online Teaching Program at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). She has also completed over 70+ post-graduate credits in information technology and instructional methodology in higher education at various universities including Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University, and of course UCLA.
Lo-An has been teaching at Mesa Community College (MCC) since 1989 as a full time Business/CIS faculty. During her tenure here at MCC, Lo-An has served on various college and faculty committees as well as the MCCD district-wide committees. Lo-An also served as on District-wide's Faculty Professional Growth Committee as the faculty representative for MCC.
In 1985, Lo-An and Dr. Arunee Grow founded the first MCCD Asian Student Association at Mesa Community. This association later became the Asian/Pacific Islander Coalition (A-PIC) of which the purpose is to mentor and provide annual scholarships to API students at MCC.
Lo-An is married to Harry Gaul, a licensed professional engineer in electrical engineering and works as a manager for General Dynamics in Scottsdale. Harry is also a long time supporter of APIA. In her free time, Lo-An enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys playing golf, bridge, tennis, snow skiing, and dining out.
