ASIAN Students Scholarship

Asian American Student Scholarship at Arizona State University and Asian Pacific Islanders Association (APIA) at Maricopa Community Colleges formed a partnership in 1997. This partnership allows three Asian American students from MCCD to receive ASU fee waivers.

The Asian American Student Scholarship at Arizona State University was established in 1990 to provide financial support to Asian American students. In 1997, an agreement was made between APIA and ASU Asian Scholarship. APIA would donate $1,000.00 annually to the ASU's Asian American Student Scholarship fund. In return, three ASU fee waivers would be awarded to transferring Asian students from the ten Maricopa Community Colleges.

Currently, each ASU fee waiver is valued at approximately $2,500.00. For each $1,000.00, the value of the scholarship is worth $7,500.00. Since 1998, API students from our community colleges have received a total of 15 ASU fee waivers with a total value over $30,000.00. To date, APIA has donated over $5,000.00 toward this scholarship.

To support this worth while cause, APIA has had a number of fund raising events for student scholarships over the past 15 years. The Maricopa Community Colleges and its API employees have generously donated to and faithfully support our scholarship funding.
