314: Procurement of Used Equipment
Used equipment may be purchased
if it meets the needs of the college as required by the user.
The purchase of used equipment must be in the best interest
of the District and result in a cost savings when compared
to the purchase of new or refurbished equipment. A statement
containing the following information must accompany the requisition.
- The requestor has inspected the equipment.
- The equipment is in proper working order.
- The equipment meets the needs of the user.
- It is in the District's best interest to procure the used
equipment.
- A determination as to price reasonableness.
The statement must be reviewed and
approved by the Purchasing Manager.
Methods of maximizing competition, within reason, are to be implemented
by the Purchasing staff with the approval of the Purchasing Manager.
Purchases of used equipment in excess of $50,000 must adhere to the competitive
bid process.
