Mesa Community College Receives $2.5 Million Grant
To Build Capacity to Serve the Advanced Manufacturing Industry

The Arizona Advanced Manufacturing Institute (AZ-AMI) at Mesa Community College received a $2.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration to provide trade-impacted workers and others with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to provide long-term support to aerospace and advanced manufacturing industries in the region. The Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) Grant provided $2,507,462 (100% of the project funds) to build the college's capacity to meet the training and educational needs of the expanding manufacturing sector in the east valley. Provides Information to Job Seekers Interested in the Sector

The Workforce Development Office, as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Maricopa Community Colleges and the City of Phoenix, has produced a brochure providing information to persons interested in careers in the fast-growing healthcare sector. The brochure includes facts about trends and top jobs in healthcare, as well as the training providers, largest employers, and resources available in the Greater Phoenix region to persons seeking employment. The brochure will be distributed to clients at the two one-stop career centers operated by the City of Phoenix. Read More

MCCCD to Train Workers Through Walmart Brighter Futures Grant
MATEC to Manage the Project

The Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) has been chosen as one of 12 community colleges and districts in the country to participate in the Walmart Brighter Futures 2.0 Project. The $3.5 million grant given to MCCCD through the League for Innovation in the Community College (League) will help train lower-income, lower-skill adults transition to middle-skill, higher-wage jobs.
