Public Workforce Connection Initiatives

A primary focus of the Center for Workforce Development is to ensure that the Greater Phoenix economy has a skilled labor pool that meets the existing and emerging workforce needs of the employer community and career seekers. To that end, the Center maintains active active partnerships with the Phoenix Workforce Connection and Maricopa Workforce Connections by providing representation on the Local Workforce Investment Boards and coordinating college/skill center connections.

Local Workforce Investment Boards
The Center for Workforce Development provides representation on both the Phoenix and Maricopa Local Workforce Investment Boards who, in partnership with local elected officials, plan and oversee the local workforce system. Local boards designate "One-Stop" operators and identify providers of training services, monitor system performance against established performance measures, negotiate local performance measures with the state board and the Governor, and help develop the labor market information system.
