What is a Podcast?
Podcasting is more than just an audio file you can listen to on the Internet. What differentiates a podcast is the way in which the audio file is delivered. Podcasts can be delivered to subscribers via a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) channel. An RSS feed contains a reference to the original audio file and automatically delivers it to those who have previously subscribed to that feed. An RSS feed is to Internet-based media files what a magazine subscription is to printed communication. An RSS feed can deliver many types of content -- audio, video, and PDFs are just a few. There are dozens of tools one can use to subscribe to an RSS podcast feed.
