COUNSELING CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MINUTES
Wednesday, February 14, 2001

1. Approval of Minutes
A draft of the December minutes was approved with two minor corrections.
Jeannie will post the December minutes on the Counseling Curriculum Committee
web site.
2. Counseling Curriculum Committee Web Site
A. A second review was given on the proposal for modifications on the
Process for Course Modification of Counseling & Personal Development
(CPD) and Behavioral Health (BHS) Courses. The proposal was approved with
two word changes and will be forwarded to the Counseling Instructional
Council. The approved document will be posted on the Counseling Curriculum
web site.
B. The Guidelines and Procedures for Use of Special Topics Courses (CPD195AA)
& (CPD195AB) will be posted on the curriculum web site.
3. Course Reviews and Proposed Modifications
A. Barbara Gordon presented the course review check list with proposed
modifications for CPD126: Writing Resumes. The committee suggested additional
modifications to update the course. Barbara will re-submit proposed changes
for CPD126 at the March meeting.
B. The review of BHS268 is completed and was approved by Curriculum
Committee. BHS268 and BHS269 will be forwarded to the Counseling Instructional
Council.
C. Status report on Review Cycle for 2000: Leaders of review committees
for CPD102AH, Stress Management CPD102AR, Relaxation Training, Fred Wieck,
and CPD103BL, Dynamics of Leadership, Jim Rubin, need more time to synthesize
the information gathered from their review groups. Fred and Jim plan to
submit the results of their review work by the March meeting.
D. Review Cycle for 2001
Cori Wright volunteered to lead the course review for CPD102AF, Human
Sexuality, during the January-December, 2002 review cycle.
Counselors are needed to lead reviews for CPD100, CPD101, and CPD103,
Personal Development of special populations during the January-December,
2001 cycle.
4. Status Report on Peer Mentor Training,CPD250, proposal
Jeannie Wyatt will continue to meet with Marianne Roccaforte (PVCC)
on the design and content of CPD250, the new course she is proposing.
5. CPD 150 Course Evaluation by University of Arizona
Jeannie Wyatt shared CPD150 materials compiled for a second evaluation
by the University of Arizona. MCCD is requesting that UA approve CPD150
for elective credit as was previously granted by Arizona State University
and Northern Arizona University. Jeannie also presented a draft of a rationale
and asked for input prior to forwarding the CPD150 packet to Dr. Briden's
office.
The meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for
2:00 p.m. on March 7 in the Hopper Room.
