Work Plan Accomplishments

Objective A: To maintain a website for curriculum matters that is part of the Counseling Instructional Council (CIC) home page.

Current documents are routinely posted on the Counseling Curriculum Committee (CCC) Web site, www.sc.maricopa.edu/cic The website represents a viable resource for counselors in the Maricopa Community College District. It contains a statement of purpose, goals, list of current committee members, documents outlining curriculum procedures, dates, and minutes for monthly meetings, and external links. The web site serves as an archive for discussions and decisions regarding CPD, CWE, BHS, and PGR courses.

Objective B: To initiate dialogue with NAU representatives regarding CPD-160 as Liberal Studies elective credit.

CPD-160 (Introduction to Multiculturalism) is being prepared in order to receive transfer status in the Cultural Understanding designation form NAU's Liberal Studies Distribution. Don Richardson has been offering insights as we work toward satisfying the requirements of this articulation process.

Recommendations for 2002-2003

  • Continue committee's role in overseeing the review process for CPD and BHS courses. Assist and support review leaders and group members throughout the course review cycle.

  • Continue to maintain CCC web site. Making more conscientious efforts to provide the website with current minutes and activities of the CCC.

  • Continue efforts to expand committee membership.

  • Write next two-year work plan that defines tasks and gives direction to the committee's work.

  • Continue with the development of a system used by the CIC and CCC for more ease of tracking new course proposals and proposed course modifications as these documents proceed through the MCCD curriculum approval process. (Possibly provide a grid or matrix on the website that informs everyone of the location and status of a particular course)
