Advanced Youth Leadership Development
Characteristics of effective Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) officers, leadership styles and strategies for the management and organization of youth groups in agriculture. Includes instruction and hands-on training in speech/workshop development, budget and activity planning and the use of parliamentary procedure.

1. Instruct students in the proper was to prepare and present a workshop/speech for a broad range of audiences. (II, III, IX, X)
2. Teach team concepts and model them throughout the year as a part of the officer team. (IV)
3. Instruct students on how to have a lasting impression with others through development of their interpersonal skills (I, III, VII)
4. Review and discuss key messages from agriculture education and Future Farmers of America (FFA) that should be presented to the public (V, VII)
5. Describe to students the proper way to correspond with others in both written and verbal forms. (IV, VII)
6. Review past curriculum and lead the students through the process of creating a new curriculum to be used by them in classroom presentations. (VI, VIII)
7. Instruct students on the proper presentation of awards to a wide range of people. (IV)
8. Facilitate the understanding of the appropriateness of dress (IV)
9. Develop an awareness of time management principals and apply them into everyday practices. (IV, VI)

    I. Personal Leadership Development Plan
        A. Interpersonal skills

      II. Workshop development

          C. Handouts, flip charts and creating the appropriate learning atmosphere
        III. Participate in the re-certification process as directed by the State FFA Executive Secretary. Which includes:
            A. Participate in quarterly personal evaluation meetings
            B. Submit twelve (12) monthly reports by the 15th of each month listing individual activities participated in the capacity of a state officer
            C. Read and submit book reports on books dealing with leadership development by November 15, February 15 and May 15.
            D. Meet with local advisor at least quarterly
          IV. Participate in training sessions developed and presented by National FFA
              A. New State Officer Training Session
                1. Correspondence
                2. Officer dress
                3. Developing a team approach to leadership

              B. National Leadership Conference for State Officers
