Basic principles of landscape design, including drafting and design techniques commonly used in the field of landscaping. Emphasis on simple working drawings and detailed views, symbols, lettering, and drafting standards. Prerequisites: None.

1. Identify and use drafting pencils, scales, triangles, T-square, horizontal bar, and drafting machine. (I)
2. Use drafting pencils to make proper line weights and value for blueprinting. (I)
3. Develop and use a professional lettering style. (I)
4. Develop and use techniques in freehand sketching. (I)
5. Develop and use a set of landscape graphics. (II)
6. Determine the proper scale to use in developing a landscape design. (II)
7. Determine the information needed to develop a plot plan, including local codes and ordinances. (II)
8. Describe the use of landscape complements. (II)
9. Use design principles, form composition, and functional aspects of design. (III)
10. Develop and draw detail drawings used in landscape design. (III)
11. Use local plants in landscape design and identify both botanical and common names. (III)
12. Write a set of specifications for a landscape design. (III)
13. Design a landscape for blueprinting, complete with plot plan, legend, and title. (III)
