Greenhouse Management and Construction
Principles and practices of greenhouse operation; control of environmental factors and cultural practices affecting the production of greenhouse crops. Prerequisites: None.

1. Describe the scope and development of the greenhouse industry. (I)
2. Maintain operation of heating, watering, lighting, ventilation, and air cooling systems in a greenhouse. (II)
3. Perform and demonstrate planting, potting, transplanting, pickling, pinching, and pruning techniques. (II, VIII)
4. Prepare soil properly for seedling, planting, or transplanting including soil sampling and testing; mixing, modifying, and conditioning with amendments. (III)
5. Describe the effects of light, temperature, and gasses on plant growth. (IV)
6. Fertilize and water plants properly. (V)
7. Propagate plants by seeds, cuttings, etc. (VI)
8. Identify and control insects, diseases, and other pests through correct application of pesticides. (VII)
9. Identify agricultural and chemical regulations concerning pesticide use. (VII)
10. Describe proper care of container-grown plants. (VIII)
11. Describe effective techniques for the marketing and distribution of greenhouse plants. (IX)
