1. Demonstrate proper horse handling and grooming techniques. (I)
2. Identify and describe types and parts of the saddle and bridle and assess a proper fit for horse and rider. (II)
3. Demonstrate the ability to properly saddle and bridle a horse. (II)
4. Demonstrate appropriate safety techniques for arena activities. (III)
5. Demonstrate the ability to mount and dismount properly and ride at the three basic gaits. (III)
6. Identify and correctly apply aids for the walk, the jog, the lope, and backing.(III)
7. Analyze components of proper rider position and its effect on the horse's ability to perform. (III)
8. Recognize and analyze the footfall sequence for the walk, jog, lope and backing movement. (III)
