|
Emphasizes reflection and revision through compiling and critiquing student's own accumulated writings. Uses previously composed documents and projects to demonstrate a complex understanding of writing as a rhetorically situated process, to assess his or her strengths and weaknesses, and to address potential methods of writing improvement and growth. Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in ENG270. Course Notes: Develops advanced college-level writing strategies
through the compilation of a portfolio which should include four or more
composition projects comprising at least 4,000 words (final drafts)three or
more writing projects comprising at least 4,000 words in total. |

1. Demonstrate a complex understanding of rhetorical strategies, evaluate personal strengths and weaknesses, and reflect on plans for continued growth by producing a portfolio. (I, II, IV, V)
2. Identify intersections between individual projects and discourse community expectations. (I, IV, V)
3. Explain how a specific composition meets the needs of a specific rhetorical context, including circumstance, purpose, topic, audience and writer, as well as the ethical, political, and cultural implications of the discourse. (I, III)
4. Analyze how a specific composition uses rhetorically appropriate conventions in writing, including content, consistent and appropriate visuals, voice, tone, diction, and mechanics. (I, III)
5. Specify how a specific composition uses format and documentation styles appropriate to a specific rhetorical situation and discourse community. (III)
6. Recommend appropriate technologies to engage specific composition processes. (II, V)
7. Evaluate one's own composition strengths and identify strategies for improvement.(IV, V)
