Introduction to major types of horse farm equipment and safety, operation, and maintenance procedures. Includes how to properly select, use, and maintain equipment vital to the operation of any horse facility.

1. Identify different types of horse trailers and compare safety features and maintenance procedures. (I)
2. Identify different types of towing vehicles and be able to select appropriate vehicle based on weight of trailer being pulled. (II)
3. Identify special heavy-duty towing equipment and emergency road equipment. (II)
4. Identify and compare different types of horse trailer hitches and hauling safety gear. (III)
5. Identify various types, styles, and sizes of farm tractors, and describe maintenance and safety requirements and operating procedures. (IV)
6. Describe arena maintenance, to include types of footing, dust control, and proper lighting. (V)
7. Compare use of the disc and harrow in maintaining arena footing, and describe the correct procedure for discing and tractor operations. (VI)
