Employment Support Systems Practices
Specific characteristics and safety requirements for developmental, physical and serious mental illness disabilities. Skills and techniques for Employment Support Specialists to assist trainees after employment acquisition. Responsibilities and on-the-job application in the employment setting including orientation, task/job analysis, training "assists", data collection and documentation. Prerequisites: ESS101 or permission of department.

1. Identify specific characteristics and safety needs of persons with developmental disabilities in the employment setting. (I)
2. Identify specific characteristics and safety needs of persons with physical disabilities in the employment setting. (II)
3. Identify specific characteristics and safety needs of persons with serious mental illness. (III)
4. Negotiate and identify training stations with employers on behalf of various disabled populations. (IV)
5. Identify and document the process by which specific trainees are selected to participate in supported job placement in the employment setting. (V)
6. Participate in and document the work site orientation, implementing a plan for specific trainees' orientation in the employment setting. (VI)
7. Analyze and document the work sites including work routines and accommodations/safety for specific persons with disabilities placed in an employment setting. (VII)
8. Analyze and document tasks for each work routine which specific trainees must complete for job retention in the work setting. (VIII)
9. Identify, apply and document training assists and strategies to facilitate acquisition of skills by specific trainees in the employment setting. (IX)
10. Identify and document employment barriers and solutions including specific behavior challenges for specific trainees in the employment setting. (X)
11. Identify and document techniques to maintain, adjust, and/or increase production levels associated with the job duties of specific trainees placed in an employment setting. (XI)
12. Implement and document evaluation procedures as applied to specific trainees' performance on-the-job. (XII)
