Exploring the World of Nursing for the High School Student (Summer Camp)
Overview of the philosophy, core values, policies, competencies and curricular components of the Maricopa Community College District Nursing Program (MCCDNP). Introduce the use of the nursing process, utilization of critical thinking skills, and sound decision-making principles in the clinical setting. Examine the communication process, time management, stress reduction, and the transition in role expectations between High school and College Students. Explore the roles of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN) and advance practice nursing. Clinical experience (job shadowing) will be held in participating hospitals. Prerequisites: None. Corequisites: HCC/RES109.
