Development of beginning piano techniques and the fundamentals of music including basic hand position, music reading skills of melodic and harmonic material, major scales, transposition, and harmonizations including the I, IV, V7 chords. Prerequisites: None.

5. Transpose five note patterns, chords, and simple solos up or down on step. (III)
6. Perform simple solo and ensemble pieces. (IV)
7. Sight read simple solo and ensemble repertoire. (IV)
8. Perform major scales, one octave, hands together. (V)
9. Perform chord progressions using primary triads in major and minor keys. (V)
10. Perform arpeggios of major triads, two octaves, hands separately. (V)
