SCHOOL HEALTH ASSISTING
The role of the school health assistant. Legal issues related to the school health setting. Performance of vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings. Documentation, vital signs, triage guidelines in the school health setting. Common diseases that affect school-age children. Child abuse issues and protocol. Common medications and their side effects. Documentation and procedures related to drug administration. Prerequisites: None.

4. Describe the proper methods involved in performing vision, hearing and scoliosis screenings as well as the department of Health Services immunization procedures and documentation. (III)
5. Demonstrate the proper measurement of blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature and identify abnormal values using vital sign measurement equipment. (IV)
