From the Editor

Welcome to the Winter 2007 edition of Expressions! I'd like to introduce myself as the editor of Expressions as part of my new role as Manager of Diversity Initiatives for Maricopa. Please join me in thanking Jeanne Lombardo who was the Expressions editor since 2005. Thank you Jeanne.

In each edition of Expressions you will find:

• An article from one of our leadership – inaugurated this month by Dr. Anna Solley
• Articles focused on student, faculty and staff activities and learning events
• Articles highlighting practices that demonstrate how inclusiveness is integrated into all aspects of the organization in keeping with Maricopa’s strategic plan and strategic directions.
• Articles celebrating Maricopans who have been recognized for their efforts in diversity, inclusion and social justice. This edition celebrates Bill Crawford, CGCC, who was honored last fall with the NAACP Roy Wilkins Community Service Award. Congratulations Bill!!!

Next Edition Focus: This year, the Chancellor has asked us all to focus on student success. What better way to celebrate the end of the year than to look at the intersection of diversity and inclusion with student success in the Spring edition of Expressions. Please submit articles by March 31 that demonstrate how our inclusive community enhances the success of our students. We welcome articles from throughout the community that tell this story…whether it is an individual epiphany or a new practice in financial aid…we need to hear about it and learn from it.
