CGTE: The Engagement Project
Dave Young, Debbie Campbell, Keith Crudup, Tom Shoemaker, Patrice Nango
CGTE works to help foster a sustainable environment for global tolerance and engagement to promote understanding of different world views on religion and ethnics. The center fulfills its mission through events featuring MCC faculty, staff and students, external presenters, community-wide events and a resource center providing video, audio and print materials.
CGTE is based on the premise that Engagement seeks a relationship that allows the perspectives and possibilities of "the other" to become part of us through exposure to cultures, traditions and political movements. CGTE sees tolerance as a first step, that leaves people with uneasy tensions. Engagement is the only way out of that tension.
CGTE forums include faculty, staff, students, and community in ongoing conversation to address and struggle with the issues and problems of the world in which we all live.
