In response to the many requests we have received, the Program for Infusing Diversity into the Curriculum (a.k.a. Diversity Infusion Program) has extended its deadlines for both the faculty and the student internship programs until Friday, April 5th. So, if you are still getting back into the swing of things after Spring Break, you now have two extra weeks to put in your application to apply for these wonderful programs!

Opportunities for Faculty Members:

Years ago, as this Program was starting out, we were "spreading the word" about the terrific experiences offered by participating.

Diversity Defined
Our definition of diversity is very open, flexible, and broad. We define diversity as any way in which individuals may differ from other human beings, which may include, but is not limited to, the following dimensions:

geographical location
ethnic background
racial background
religion and religious background
spiritual background
national and international culture
family heritage and customs
societal heritage and customs
gender
age
marital status
social-economic status
physical and mental health
biological, psychological, or social factors influencing one's life
abilities and/or disabilities/handicaps/challenges
occupation
working habits
sexuality / sexual orientation
language and communication style
physical appearance
thinking style

Today, although we are still "spreading the word," we are recognized as a model for diversity infusion in the curriculum. The program is comprised of faculty from many different disciplines who are enjoying being part of this exciting and dynamic Program. Evaluations by faculty of their experiences in the Diversity Infusion Program consistently are rated as "excellent." We have been contacted by individuals outside our District, as well as outside our State, to teach them how to create this Program in their educational institutions.

You will not want to miss this opportunity to work in a stimulating and collegial environment and to be part of this wonderful experience. Participation in the Diversity Infusion Program encourages creativity and innovation, and provides support as you explore diversity topics in your field. Think about applying today...you'll be glad you did!

If you wish to contact faculty who have participated in the Diversity Infusion Program and hear about their experiences first-hand, let us know.
