In response to the District’s initiative to establish diversity
as one of its principal institutional values, the Program for Infusing
Diversity into the Curriculum (Diversity Infusion Program) was developed.
To accomplish the Program’s main goal of instilling diversity
issues and perspectives into and throughout the District's curricula,
faculty are encouraged to incorporate diversity issues, examples, and
resources into the courses they teach. The intent of this project is
to increase awareness, sensitivity, and appreciation of diversity in
the District’s student population. Each year a small group of
faculty members is selected from within the District to explore ways
of infusing diversity into the classroom. This Internship will allow
students to participate in this Program. Student interns will have
opportunities to improve their leadership and professional skills,
diversity skills, learning skills, communication skills, and interpersonal
skills.
