2002
marks the 101st year of our nation's community colleges. The
Maricopa Community Colleges stand proudly among them as the
national model in higher education.
Of the10.4 million
students attending the1,132 community colleges, 5.4 million
are enrolled in credit classes with another 5 million enrolled
in non-credit classes. Students represent widely differing
backgrounds, cultures, ages, nationalities, interests and
goals. As the job market continues to demand greater competency
in basic skills, and technology requires new training or retraining
in many occupations, the number of students attending the
Maricopa Community Colleges increases annually. The following
pages provide a general overview and the most current data
on the Maricopa County Community College District.
