Chesrown For Immediate Release PRESIDENTIAL SEARCH NARROWS TO FOUR March 27, 2002 – Four educators have been named finalists in the search for a new president of Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Carol Brown, Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs at Oakland Community College, Michigan; Maria Hesse, Dean of Instruction at Chandler-Gilbert Community College; Dr. Anthony Ross,Vice President for Student Affairs at California State University at Los Angeles; and Dr. Jennifer Wimbish, Chief Academic Officer/ Interim Provost at Lansing Community College, Michigan have been recommended to the Chancellor for consideration by the Presidential Search Committee. The finalists will now participate in a series of interviews with other college and district officials as well as employee groups, on Monday, April 1, 2002. The candidates will have interviews with the Chancellor, the vice chancellors and other college presidents. The four will also make presentations to campus employees and answer questions. The public is invited to observe each candidate’s one-hour session beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Lecture Hall C110, on the CGCC campus. “The 7.8% jump in enrollment at the college this spring is an indication of how quickly the Southeast Valley is growing,” says Chancellor Fred Gaskin. “It’s important we find a leader for Chandler-Gilbert Community College with the vision to help us meet the needs of this fast-growing diverse community.” After the public sessions the Chancellor may recommend one of the candidates to the Maricopa Community College Governing Board. Arnette Scott Ward is retiring from the post she has held since the college was founded in 1985. Ward will continue to serve as a consultant for the district. Chandler-Gilbert Community College has three primary sites: the Pecos and Williams campuses and the Sun Lakes Education Center. CGCC provides an array of associate degrees and key lower division academic courses for university transfer students. The college also features cutting-edge educational programs, such as the Microsoft IT Institute, FAA Certified Aviation Maintenance Technology and the Maricopa Institute for Virtual Reality Technology. The Maricopa County Community College District is one of the largest community college districts in the nation.
