2002 OUTSTANDING MUSIC PERFORMERS HIT THE STAGE
Free concert to feature Maricopa Community Colleges best musical students

April 16, 2002 – First place winners in the Maricopa Community Colleges Music Competition will bring a night of lively entertainment to the public, free of charge, on Friday, April 26, 2002.

The student musicians come from the district’s many music programs. They will perform in several categories including; piano, guitar, composition, solo instrumental, instrumental ensembles, solo vocal and vocal ensembles.

“These student performers are excellent,” says Bob Galloway, Coordinator of Fine Arts Development at the Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction (MCLI). “The show is quick-paced… entertaining and fun. You’re in for a real musical treat with this year-end event.”

The performers include:
Chamber Ensemble Instrumental: Aaron Diaz, Jeff Eastman, Charlie Goodwin, Ryan Vance
Composition: Joyce Durrant, On Golden Sand
Guitar: Joel Rieck
Instrumental: Laura Hoopes (Flute)
Jazz Vocal Ensemble: Sean Aron, Dennis Hubert, Kendra Merritt, Whitney Mosher, Kim Wells, Amy Willets, Joshua Willets
Piano: Mariann Aston and Elizabeth Thomasson
Solo Vocal – Men’s: Jordan Bluth
Solo Vocal – Women’s: Lettice Pelotte

The performance begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on the Scottsdale Community College campus, 9000 E. Chaparral (Loop 101 at Chaparral). A reception to meet the musicians will immediately follow the performance. The 2002 Outstanding Music Performers Concert will also be broadcast live on MCTV, COX Digital Cable Channel 130. The event is sponsored by the Chancellor’s Office, the Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction (MCLI), Maricopa Colleges Television (MCTV) and Scottsdale Community College.
