Chesrown Maricopa Community College District Governing Board to Approve Increase in Property Taxes Greater Phoenix - At a June 12 public hearing, the Maricopa Community College District Governing Board will consider raising its property taxes by the limit permitted by the state constitution and statute (ARS 15-1461.01). About 60 percent of the District's funding is generated by property taxes. This increase in primary property taxes will result in total annual estimated taxes on a $100,000 home of $95.83 as compared to $93.02 if the District did not maximize its tax levy. Details concerning the impact of this proposal as compared to not increasing taxes are listed in the Truth in Taxation notice published in the Arizona Republic on May 28 and June 5. The publicly elected five-person Governing Board will meet on Tuesday, June 12 at the Maricopa Community Colleges District Office, 2411 West 14th Street, Tempe, Arizona. The District Governing Board will consider a motion to levy the increased property tax by a roll call vote. Any increase would take effect on July 1, 2001.
